Teaching Media

1.        Flash Card

The first media that I choose is flash card, because flash card is very simple thing. Flash card is one of the media that we can use in teaching English especially for teaching vocabulary, for instance we can teach about parts of speech. Here are some steps to use flash card.

How to use flash card:

a.    The teacher prepares the flash card and brings them to the class room.

b.   Teacher writs the table on the whiteboard, and the table consist of parts of speech (noun, verb, adverb, pronoun, adjective, etc.)

c.    The teacher prepares 10 until 15 words that include in parts of speech, and write one word in each flash card.

d.   The teacher asks the student to come in front of the class one by one and choose one flash card with a word.

e.    When the student in front of the class, the teacher ask the student to look at the word on their flash card and then decide that whether it include on noun, adverb, verb, or etc. and write it on the table on the whiteboard.

2.        Advertisement

Advertisement is a thing that we can found in every place. Almost all of the people know and have found advertisement. Advertisement usually use to promoting the product. In addition to promoting the product, we can also use advertisement as the media for teaching English. Especially for teaching reading and pronunciation skill. Here are some steps to use advertisement in teaching English.

How to use Advertisement:

a.    Teacher asks the student to bring their own advertisement.

b.   Teacher asks the student to read their advertisement slowly and loudly.

c.    Ask them to finding the information of the advertisement itself about what is the advertisement is talk about and what the purpose of the advertisement itself.

d.   Ask them to finding the difficult word and its meaning, ask them to discuss with their friends.

3.        Comics

A comic is appropriated to teach student in junior or senior high school, because commonly the student in junior high school prefer to reading story rather than textbook. We can use comics to teach listening and reading comprehension skills. Here are some steps to teach with comics.

How to use comics:

a.    Teacher reads the comics slowly and loudly, and asks the student to listen carefully.

b.   Teacher gives the questions and ask student to answer directly. For example, teacher asks the student about the actor or actrees, where and where the story is took place, etc.

c.    Teacher decide the student into some groups and asks them to read a comic.

d.   Teacher ask the student to discuss about the content of the comic and present it in front of the class.
